Meet Debra Borrero

Debra thought she was healthy. She ate organic, exercised regularly, and did “all the right things.” But when she was diagnosed with breast cancer, it hit her hard—not just physically, but emotionally and spiritually.

During her cancer journey, something inside her shifted.

She realized that despite her outward habits, she had been living in a constant state of stress—emotionally reactive, spiritually disconnected, and exhausted from trying to keep up with a life that didn’t feel aligned. Cancer, while terrifying, became an unexpected gift: it forced her to pause.

It was in that pause that healing began.

As part of her cancer treatment, Debra was introduced to complementary healing practices, which included Reiki. She didn’t know what it was—but something nudged her to say yes to it. Those initial sessions changed everything. Reiki became the one space where her pain eased, her anxiety quieted, and she felt peace for the first time in a long time.

Years later, as her mother faced Parkinson’s disease, Debra felt called again—this time to learn Reiki for herself. What began as a way to support her mother blossomed into a lifelong passion. But before she could fully support others, she had to heal herself. Through the practice of Reiki, Debra began to realign with her whole self—mind, body, and soul. It helped her peel back the layers of old patterns, reconnect with her inner truth, and grow into the woman and healer she was meant to become.

Today, Debra is the Founder of Power of the Pause, a healing practice rooted in the belief that transformation begins the moment we stop rushing, stop numbing, and simply pause.

As a certified Usui Reiki Master with nearly a decade of experience, Debra offers group and individual sessions to guide others through their own moments of transition—whether that’s an illness, divorce, career change, or deep personal awakening. She combines Reiki with holistic practices like Meditation, Somatic Breathwork, “I Am That I Am” Sound Healing, and Guided Journaling to help her clients release emotional blocks, reduce stress, and reconnect with their inner wisdom and joy.

Debra doesn’t just teach healing—she lives it. These are the tools that ground her daily, and she knows their power because she’s walked through the fire and come out with light.

"The soul always knows how to heal itself. The challenge is to silence the mind."
